Gamoo
Gamoo OS · in development

The computer your kid uses to play, study and create. And one you can trust.

Gamoo OS is a real gaming system with nothing toy-like about it — and one you can also hand to a child without worrying.

Immutable Linux · KDE Plasma · free and open source

What Gamoo OS is

A complete, installable operating system. You download it, install it on your PC and use it like any modern system — no toy look, and no begging the terminal for permission.

Games are the way in, not the ceiling. On top come two things nobody else puts together: a progression layer that spans your stores, and a Guardian Mode that turns the same PC into a safe computer for a child — to play, study, create and browse.

Install and play

A real system on your disk, not a test live USB. It boots into Game Mode, ready to go.

In progress · Wave 2

Safe for kids

Screen time, filtered browsing and an age-based catalog — turned on per profile, and only when you want.

Planned · Wave 4

Progress that adds up

The Gamoo Layer gives you one profile, XP that builds across stores and achievements that belong to you, not to a store.

Two audiences, one system

The adult gamer who wants nothing childish in their way, and the parent who wants a PC they can trust. Both are the point — neither is an afterthought.

For gamers

A wide-open gaming system: install what you want, run what you want.

  • An image with only free software; proprietary extras are your choice to install

For families

In progress · Wave 2

With Guardian Mode on for your kid's profile, the same PC becomes a different machine.

  • Screen time per day and per time window, bedtime included
  • Filtered browsing, safe search and an age-based walled garden
  • Only age-appropriate apps; your kid asks, you approve
  • School and creativity in one place: writing, drawing, coding
Meet Guardian Mode

Two modes, one system

Gamoo OS is multi-profile, and every profile has its own mode. That split is what lets the same PC serve the adult gamer and the child without becoming a kids' product for either.

Standard ModeIn progress · Wave 1

on by default

A grown-up gaming experience with no brakes: install what you want, run what you want, zero restrictions and zero kiddie looks. Most people will live here.

Guardian ModeIn progress · Wave 2

optional, per profile

A parent turns it on for a child's profile — and only there. Screen time, safe browsing, an age-based catalog and apps for school and creativity. It is what makes Gamoo OS a PC you can hand to a kid.

If you install Gamoo OS just for yourself, you never have to turn Guardian Mode on. If you install it because of Guardian Mode, you get a system that doesn't treat the child as a second-class user.

The four pillars

We don't compete on FPS, drivers or kernels — the people who have done that for years do it well. We compete on the experience, the metagame and the trust of whoever hands the PC to a kid.

Ready to play, no terminalIn progress · Wave 1

Boots straight into Game Mode. Drivers and the compatibility layer are already sorted out. You never open a terminal to start playing.

02

One library, every storePlanned · Wave 3

Steam, Epic and GOG in one place — with cloud gaming treated as a first-class citizen, not a browser workaround.

03

Gamoo LayerPlanned · Wave 4

The metagame: one profile, XP and levels that add up across stores, our own achievements, missions and seasons. No other distro has it.

The same PC becomes a complete, safe computer for a child — to play, study, create and browse — with the adult in charge and nothing leaving the machine.

Local-first

Local-first, zero telemetry — reports stay on your machine.

Parental controls usually come bundled with a server that knows everything about your home. Not here: whatever Guardian Mode records stays on your computer. No cloud required, no account required.

Stays where it was made

Usage history belongs to your PC. There is no dashboard of ours with your kid's data, because that data never exists on our side.

Zero telemetry

The system sends no usage statistics to Gamoo. If a feature ever needs the cloud, it will be optional and spelled out plainly.

Open with the child

A limit you agree on, not hidden surveillance. Kids see how much time they have and know there's a limit — it's a deal, not a trap.

What it costs

Nothing. Downloading, installing and using Gamoo OS is free.

Use and play

free

No plan, no subscription and no account needed to get started. You download it and install it.

Open source, GPLv3

Gamoo OS is free software. Anyone can read, study, change and share what runs on their own machine — and anyone who distributes a modified version has to open its source too.

On a system you'll install on your kid's computer, that isn't legal fine print: it's the difference between taking our word for it and being able to check.

Download Gamoo OS

There's no public build yet. The system installs and boots, but it's in internal testing — an operating system that goes on your disk isn't published before it's ready.

Who makes it

Gamoo OS is made by Gamoo

Gamoo exists to gamify learning and experience in a way that doesn't make you want to close the tab. Gamoo OS is where that shows: the metagame isn't decoration stuck on the system, it's the reason the system exists.
